My grandfather Franz Joseph Heinzmann immigrated in 1923 with his wife and two son's Joseph and John. Joseph is my father and was born in Stuttgart. John is Dwight's father and Mike is Dwight's son. The family settled in Lancaster, Pennsylania where Franz worked for Armstrong for 42 years. I saw that Mike had posted earlier. My grandfather fought for the German army in World War I and was a corporal in the artillary. He was shot, stabbed and finally gassed in the Arden Forest which ended his military career. His father was in the German merchant marine and was an unuausaly tall person at 7'2". The lineage goes back to the 1200's and as far as I can tell the name was registered in Zurich.

Hi Chris,

I have tried visiting your website several times but I never see anything. My mother has seen it though so it might be my browser or security settings.

Three years, wow! Your going to have a culture shock moving back to Noblesville.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the comment. My great grandfather John Christian Heinzman was two years old when he came to America from Wurttemberg with his father Jacob in the 1850s. My mother says there were three brothers and two off them migrated to Indiana and one stayed in Pennsylvania. Since Heidelburg is also a part Wurttemberg, maybe we have an old world connection if not recent. Of course, DNA could eventually settle that question if two different Heinzmans were so inclined.

Welcome, and feel free to share news, recipes, stories, etc.

Hi, My name is Mike Heinzman, I have been interested in family history for some time, but never have time. My father (dwight) is sont to John Heinzman. He came over from Heidelburg as a child. They came to Lancaster, Pa. He had a brother, Joe i believe. Not sure if there is any relation what so ever, but it doesn't hurt to get involved.
